Cruise to Malacca (15 – 17 Oct 2014)

I went for a short cruise trip with my in-laws.

We met early in the afternoon, then we had late lunch and we went for our early check in. Then we waited around till it is time for us to board the cruise.

We went on Star Cruises Superstar Gemini this year. Our boarding time is at 8.30pm. Right after boarding onto the cruise, we went straight for dinner in the chinese restaurant, Dynasty Restaurant.

These are the main dishes available on the buffet line. (L-R): Roasted Pork Belly, Fried Fish with Soy Sauce, Stir Fry Prawns with Marrow Melon, Sea Cucumber Stew, Steamed Chicken, Lotus Root and Pork Rib Soup, Honey Cha Siew, Stir Fry Greens and Winter melon with Abalone Mushrooms

After dinner, we went to explore the ship as this is the first time we are on board Superstar Gemini and it is my in-laws’ first cruise trip.

Subsequently, we also went to look at the choices available in the buffet line in another restaurant, Mariner’s Restaurant.

After that supper, the cruise started moving out to sea. I went back to the room to turn in for the night while my husband and his parents went to explore the bars and the jackpot machines.

On the second day, we woke up early for breakfast. We went to Dynasty for the breakfast and popped by to the western food restaurant, Bella Vista, to explore their spread as well.

After breakfast, we went back to the room to wait for our time to get off the cruise to Malacca.

We need to change to a smaller boat which will bring us into Malacca’s pier, and the journey was pretty shaky, but still acceptable.

Once we reached land, we took a cab down to Jocker Street which is around a 5 min drive and we went straight for lunch.

After lunch we went to shop for some local goodies in San Shu Gong, then we board another cab to go to Makorta Mall for more shopping. We also sat down for tea break there as we are tired from all the walking around and shopping in the mall.

After tea break, we walked and shopped some more, before heading back to the pier to board our boat ride back to cruise. Once we are back to the cruise, we changed into our swimming attire to enjoy the jacuzzi and pool on the cruise. We had to get out of the waters as it started to rain soon after. We are exceptionally glad that we were back on board rather early as the sea got rather choppy once the rain and wind comes along. We had the window rooms so we were able to see how shaky the boat gets when they are coming back to the cruise ship.

After some rest and bathing time, we headed for dinner. We wanted to eat at Dynasty, but we were too late by the time we reach that there were no more tables, so we went to Bella Vista first for some food before heading back to Dynasty for more.

After the dinner, it is time for the Special Performance with the Lion Men Crew.

My husband participated and won some gifts for me.

After that we went back to the room to rest, we intended to watch the movie marathon, but we fell asleep in the room instead and missed the movies.

The next morning is the last day we were on the cruise. We woke up in time for breakfast, my in-laws prefers the spread in Dynasty, and so we went there for breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to settle our bill and collect our passports, then we rest in the room till it is time for disembarkment. And before long, we are back in Singapore.

I enjoyed this trip with my in-laws, we know that we have brought them to some places they have never been before, and it is a first experience for them on a cruise. We enjoyed the food available on board the ship and the room we were staying in. I felt that this trip was very short, and I will prefer a longer trip the next time round.

We intend to go for another cruise trip with friends and family next year. ^.^
